Description
Excerpted from a record book, a list of 89 people enslaved by John Cocke as of March 1863 -- well after the Emancipation Proclamation declared them free. The list has 86 names, with approximate ages given; on March 1, 1864, the names of three new children were added.
Note: Names have been grouped by age according to decade and tabulated, perhaps owing to the need to report the number of one's slaves in that format for the census.
