Moore indicating their intention to present petitions to the governor on behalf of George Russell if the Alabama Supreme Court confirms his death sentence.

M<sup>rs</sup> [[Russell, Mary|Mary Russell]] & her niece; Aunt: & Cousin: to [[Russell, George|George Russell]] who was at the fall term of the [[Circuit courts|Circuit Court]] of [[Blount County (Ala.)|Blount County]] State of Ala., [[Capital punishment|sentenced to death]] by [[Hanging|hanging]], which case is now or has been reversed or confirmed by the <s>circuit</s> [[Alabama. Supreme Court|supreme court]] of the state. If so ^confirmed^ they will present to your Excellency several petitions for the purpose of having said punishment [[Commuting--Law and legislation|commuted]]; to such [[Imprisonment|imprisonment]] in the [[Prisons|penitentiary]] as your Excellency may think proper. He was [[Orphans|Fatherless & Motherless]] I as an individual can say these ladies are very [[Poor women|limited—in a pecunary point of view]] & are entitled to the Charity ^& protection^ of a generous community
