Sir:
I send you by Col J W Echols $150.000 in bonds of $1000.00 each at 8 per Cent interest, payable semi annually & commencing 1st April 1861 You will please Calculate the interest on the $50.000 first loaned to the state up to 1st April, & on the last $50.000 loaned to the state, with same manner. I hope you will take a bond in payment of the interest, if not I must pay the same in money
If you agree to take a bond in payment of the interest it will leave 49 bonds of $100000 each which I hope you will be able to sell for the state. Should you sell them or any portion thereof, please deposit the same in the Bank to the Credit of the Treasurer of the state of Alabama & give him notice of such deposit-. You will thus add to the many obligation swhich the state is already under to the Bk of Mobile.
[Will you then inform write to D. B. Graham Treasurer of the state informing him of the deposit of $8.00000 by Col E Harrison in check of W M Smith. I mislaid the [Abgraphee?] dispatch of Mr [Green?] Cashier informing him of this deposit]
