Bank of Mobile Apl 16th 1861
Dear Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your favor of the 10th inst by Col Echols, who has delivered the Bonds [advised?], that is One hundred in [place?] of the Bonds before with us, which [is being?] handed to him as you request, and for your attention to which I am obliged. The Bank has taken one of the Fifty other Bonds sent in payment of interest for our advances to the State which amounted to $[??] leaving a balance due of $35834 which is being placed to the credit of D B Treasurer as you instruct. The [219?] left shall be disposed of should an opportunity offer, which at present is not very encouraging, as the Bonds of the Confederated States now offering on our Market will absorb all our Surplus means, in this direction.
Col Echols took with him the 100 Bonds before held by this Bank and for which he gives us his receipt.
Our Cashier did duly advise the State Treasurer of the deposit of Eight thousand dollars made by Col Harrison to which you refer.
Very Respt Your Obt Servant Charles Walsh Prest
