[Cecl.?] [[Pope, B. T.|B T Pope]]
Dear Sir
In looking over the copy of the letter I addressed to the [[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|Govr.]] in behalf of [[Russell, George|Russell]] I find a sentence which I think needs modification. I allude to the sentence towards the close of my letter which begins “Indeed I think I may safely [&c?]” I wish it to read thus “Indeed I think I may that to his bad character & these reports is in a great degree to be attributed that part of the verdict which affixed the [[Capital punishment|penalty of death]]”
As the sentence now stands ^some injustice^ might seem to be done to the [[Jury|jury]] who [[Trial|tried]] the case. If you have sent my letter to the Govr., you will please send this also as I am anxious that nothing should be stated by me that would even seem to do the least injustice to any body.
Yours truly
