Your Excellency that, Randolph L. Gray in a [pundit?] brawl killed Westley Moody in the city of Montgomery, during the early part of the year 1855. He was immediately incarcerated and examined in prison nearly all the time, until the month of April in the year of 1855 -when he was tried in the Circuit Court of Macon County, convicted and sentenced to the Penitentiary for the term of five years.Your petitions show that Randolph L. Gray was a minor, at the time the homicide was committed by him: that he is a painter by trade and until the unfortunate occurrence of which he was convicted he don the char-acter of a hardworking, upright and honest mechanic. And since his conviction, they have been informed that he has been subordinate and obedient to the officers of the States prison, faithful in the discharge of his duties and an efficient workman. The long confinement and hard work have destroyed his constitution, and he is now insane.Your petitioners regarding his youth, his long im-prisonment already lasting more than five years and his present deplorable condition, consider him a proper object of Executive clemency, and therefore pray thatyour Excellency will pardon him and grant him a discharge ^from^ all further confinement in the penitentiary?
