To His Excellency Andrew B. Moore Governor of the State of Alabama
The undersigned petitioners Respectfully Repre=sent to your Excellency that at the Fall Term 1856 of the Circuit Court of Shelly County Ala a Indictment was preferred against one Williams Davis and another for an affray and that upon the arrest of said Davis George R. Vasser because his [security?] on his [food?] for one hundred dollars for his appearance of the Spring Term 1857 of said Count Sect that the bomb did not specify any offenses. That soon after the Execution of the fond said Davis ran away from the State and went to Tennessee. That a forfeiture was entered on laid bond and the Judgement after=wards made final-that from the Judgement so re=dered on said Bond a appeal was taken to the Supreme Court and there affirmed notwithstand=ing said defect in said Bond -Petitioners further represent that said indictment agains said Davis was for a simple affray without any agravating circumstances -that soon after Davis absconded from this State he committed an offense in Tennessee for which he was imprisoned in the Penitentiary of that State and that in congruence of his confinement there’s said security was unable to comfort his appear=ance of said Shelby Court and that said Davis yet confined in said Penitentiary -that said George R. Vasser has already paid a considerable of money way of costs and that he is a poor man with a family and unable in [lustier?] to himself and family to meet said Judgement on said bond -for the facts in regard to the bond your petitioners refer to the transcript to the Supreme Court -and also the facts stated of the confinement of Davis in the Sate prison of Tennessee petitions refer to [Hen?] only Bowden -in vein of the premises you petitioners pray your Excellency to merit said Judgement on said Bond and your petitioners will ever pray of

I certify that the facts set forth in the foregoing petition in [usage?] to the confinement of Davis in the Penitentiary of the State of Tennessee are true having myself seen said Davis in said confinement. W. Bowdon Whole the facts stated in the certificate of Judge Bowdon I think it but might just that the forfeiture against W. Taylor showed be remitted + I would unite [hath?] the other petitioners in asking that this may be done.
