To Hen A. B. Moore
Governor of Ala:
Dear [im?]:
I respectfully ask your attention to the accompanying recommend-ation of nine of the jury who [heed?] Granville at the recent term of our Circuit Court. You will also see that this pending Judge Hen S. B. Hale <u>fully</u> concern in the recommendation of the jury. And P. S. Saipe Enqr acting attorney [lend?] who prosecuted the ease before the jury likewise concern. I defended this negro (who [heleny?] to D. A. Benjamin who of this city) and I [undertakingly?] say I most fully concur in these recommendations! This negro [poned?] on the trial a most excellent character; + there were many reasons ([unmanly hese to reaction them?]) which induced the recommendation of the jury, hide & solicited.
I hope for you find it convenient with your devise of public duty to save this poor negro’s life + have inflicted much punishment as the recommendation suggests.
