Personally came before, [[Thornton, William H.|William H. Thornton]], Judge [[Judges|jusdge]] of Probate for said county & state— Drs [[Harris, John B|John B. Harris]] & [[Vandiver, John H.|John H. Vandiver|Vandaver, John H.|John H. Vandaver]], who having first duly sworn, state on oath, that they are & have been practicing physicians [[Physician|physician/s]] for a number of years— that they are well acquainted with [[Bishop, Lewis|Lewis Bishop|Bishop, Louis|Louis Bishop]] who has been lately imprisoned [[Prisoner|prisoner/s]] for the killing[Manslaughter|man slauter]] of Jason [Maxwell?] [[Maxwell, Jason|Jason Maxwell]] that he has been very sick during his confine-ment that they have been called to visit him professionally— To investigate his condition & to administer to his relief-& that They are prepared to give it as their mature & profesional opinion that his health may be per-manently impaired and his life seriously endangered by confinement in the jail during the [lenth?] of his imprisonment either for six of Twelve months. They further note, that Mr. Bishop is a cripple and of feeble con-dition[[Invalids|invalid/s]]. That he is now an old man and, being a confined dyspeptic, he required all the exercise in the open air which he is capable of taking or en-joying.
