The State of Alabama
[[Barton County (Ala.)|Barton County]]
Before me Fell [Moot?][Rejection?] in Chauncey in + [unintelligible sentence] of said state honorably cause [[Ryan, Hampton|Hampton Ryan]] who being duly sworn [unintelligible] depose + nay , he knows [[McLean, James|James McLean]] the witness for the State in the case of the State v [[Parmer, Jacob|Jacob Parmer]]— that he knows the character of said [[McLean, James|James McLean]] for truth + veracity + that he would not believe him on his oath—
Affiant further states that he has know [[Parmer, Jacob|Jacob Parmer]] from his earlier infancy — having lived in the same neighborhood and near him all the Time — that the said [Parmer, Jacob|Jacob Parmer]] has all the Time borne a good character, affiant having never before heard of any charge whatsoever against him, and affiant does not now believe him guilty of the offense of which he has been convicted —[[Ryan, Hampton|Hampton Ryan]]
Known to + fabricated before we this the 27th day of MAy A.D.1859 and I certify that Hampton Ryan is a man of the very highest respectability+[Clarity?]
