[invite?] [them?] I write this at the instance of [[White, Mrs. Wilson|White’s Wife]] The wife of [[White, Wilson|Wilson White]] who was convicted of [[murder|murder]] at The Spring Term of This Court 1857. They were sentenced to The Penitentiary for life. A Petition has been sent to you by the city of This County in which they say that they think [[White, Wilson|Wilson White]] was Innoncent of The <s>charges</s> ^Crime^ of which he was convicted, + [Someone? Saunders?] who was in The Penitentiary for the same offence Says ^That^ he (White) is not guilty. I know nothing of The mother of my own knowledge, If the proof

Of Saunders (who is in the Pen—itentiarry for the same offense) + The petition of the people have <u>satisfy</u> you That The DefT is innocent. I warned he [unintelligible] happy to hear That you had pardoned him, [unintelligible] you at the time often conviction what my opinion was on The testimony, nothing has Transformed to Change, That Opinion, —
