To his Excellency [[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|A B Moore]]
Governor

[I?] [sent?] [some?] time since to you the petition of [[Hale, Thomas|Thomas Hale]] a citizen of [[Marshall County (Ala.)|Marshall County]] praying that two judg—ments against him (as [[Surety|surety]] of one [[Hodge, John|John Hodge]]) might be set aside. Your Excellency then being at [[Talladega County (Ala.)|[Talledaga?] Springs]] answered that if Thomas Hale would arrest Hodge you would set the forfeitures aside. I sent Hale (immediately [on?] receipt of your answer) to [[Jackson County (Ala.)|Jackson County]] with several assistants and he brought him to this County an surrendered him to the [[Sheriff|sheriff]]—said Hodge has since after his arrest appeared at the [[Circuit courts|Circuit Court]]. [?] your Excellency now be

pleased to set the said judgement aside—which are as yet [only?] stayed for the term of six months I have got the sheriff [to?] certify the fact of Hale's [surrendering?] Hodge into his custody which is the cause the judge of our Circuit recommended [us?] to pursue.
