To his Excellency [[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|A. B. Moore]] Govner of the State of Alabama
We the undersigned members of the [[Jury|juror]] who Tride And Convicted [[Russell, George|George Russel]] of [[Murder|Murder]] in the first degree With [[Capital punishment|death penalty]] at fall term of 1858 of the [[Circuit courts|Cercuit Court]] of [[Blount County (Ala.)|Blount County]] Alabama in view of the youth of said George Russel and his want of moral training in his Raising and in view of his manifest Excitement from Liquor render which the said George Russel labored at the time he struck the fatal Blow it having bin done in a crowded [[Grocery stores|Grocery]] whare thare were sum Exci-tement about a Bet made by said Russel Withe an Other person on a Wrestle and the said Russel possible mis Construing a request of the [[Henry, John|Deceast]] Who was stake Holder: to the said Russel to pay up the sum in to a [taunt?] by the Deceast. in view of all these circumstances we the undersigned Respectfully pray your Excellency to [[Pardon|Comute]] the punish-ment of said George Russel to such imprisonment in the [[Prisons|penitenchry]] as may seem rite to your Exci-lency and your [[Petition|Petitioners]] will Ever pray as in duty
