[[Barbour County (Ala.)|Clayton Ala]], Apl 12. 1859.
Dear sir,
Herewith I send you petition for the pardon of [[Parmer, Jacob|Jacob Parmer]] and other papers relating hereto. I desire you to represent me before the [[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|Governor]] and endeavor to secure the [[pardoned|pardon]]. I have known Parmer a long time and I honestly believe it would be right & proper for the Governor to pardon him.
I could get the affidavit of many persons that they would not believe the witness McLean on his oath and I am also sure that I could get the recommendation of our whole bar who witnessed the trial, though I am induced to send the papers or at once upon the assurance of Col [[Baldwin| Col Baldwin]] that the Governor will grant the petition upon the showing made.
If however after examining the papers you think to defer it, do so and
[page break]
write me and I will try to make the case stronger.
I expect to get no fee for this unless Parmer should one of these days be able & voluntarily offer it. If I ever get anything you shall have half of it
You may show this letter to Gov Moore if you see proper.
Please let me hear from you soon
Truly
