[[Clayton (Ala.)|Clayton Ala]] Augst 10. 1859.
To His Excellence,
[[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|AndrewA.B. Moore]] Governor &c
Sir,
Herewith I hand you other papers in connection with my application heretofore made for the release and pardon of [[Parmer, Jacob|Jacob Parmer]] a convict from this county now in the Penitentiary.
I hope you will pardon me if you should think I am at all troublesome to you in this matter. It is a case in which I feel a personal interest & hope as a personal favor to me you will give the case as favorable a consideration as it is in your power to do. I appreciate your position in a matter of this kind & have never before troubled you, and I do assure you now upon my word as a gentleman I do believe this is a case in which your power and clemency out to be interposed.
I have been informed & believe that there is not a Juror who sat upon the case who has not signed the petition and the affidavit (are/the [most?] of them) made by persons whom I know to be of the highest
[page break]
respectability and his neighbors, men who have known him a long time and all of whom testify to his irreproachable character up to the time he was charged with this offense. I have known him myself a long time & I solemnly declare I do not believe he is guilty.
Respectfully Your Obt. Servt.
