Your petitioner [[Fuller, Barney|Barney Fuller]] of [[Tuscaloosa County (Ala.)|tuscaloosa county]], humbley represents to your excellence that he was tried and convicted at the last [June?] of the circuit court for Tuscaloosa county just closed. [Apon?] an [unclear] for [gaming?] with a [[Enslaved people|slavee/s]]; and was fined by [[Jury|jury]] trying the case seventy dollars, and was questioned by the [unclear]. Mr. [[Mudd, S|S. Mudd]], the preceding [[Judges|judge/s]]. To three months imprisonment [unclear] the county [[Jails|jail]].
Your petitioner further supersedes [unclear] these [perially?] is severe in the extreme - and that the jury trying the case rendered their [unclear] of [unclear] apon mere inferential and circumstantial testimony proving the guilt of misdemeanor.
Under this view of the case your punishment prays your Excellency to remit [unclear] [unclear] at [cash?] in part as your petitioner having very poor and [unclear] will have to suffer extreme measure of the penalty above [extreme?]. The [unclear] Mr. S. Mudd believing that my case is [unclear] discovering the clemency of the execution he recommends the [unclear] and forwarding to your Excellency this petition, and says he will unite with the [records?] of the petitioner in praying your Excellency to [unclear] a portion of the penalty, [hence?] your petitioner will ever [pray?] [unclear].
