Sir
I am requested by the friends of Mr Carmilich a convict from this County to call your
attention to the papers on file in the executors office in his case. The Killing was rather an
unaccountable act , and was perhaps an act of momentary anger
I had it in instruction to have examined the claim closely, with a [?] of shortening the
term of punishment if his conduct justified it. And request you to so do – [my?] respectfully
Hon. John [Hinston?]
