To His Excellency
[[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|Gov A. B. Moore]]

Dear Sir,

[[Lownthal, Jules|Mr Jules Lowenthal]] was convicted at the [Fall?] term 1858 of the [City?] Court of [[Embezzlement|embezzlement]] + sentenced to the penitentirary for four years. Mr. Lowenthal is [?] and informed a [nation?] of [[Germany|Germany]] and came from [[Antwerp(Belgium)|Antwerp]] [here?]: his [parents?] I am in-formed are very respectable people, very old and [?]. I have seen his wife frequently - she seems to be an excellent woman and is certainly devoted to her husband's fortunes. She says that if Mr. Lowenthal is discharged they will at once return to Belgium. [[Lowenthal, unknown|Mrs. Lowenthal]] will tell you more of the particular circumstances that I come with, and I am satisfied she will speak [truly?] what she knows. From all I have [communed?] from ehr and others, I have deter-mined to recommend Mr. Lowenthal to your clemency, and [that?] [?] hope that <s>[?]</s> you will return him to his wife.
