Hon. T. H. Watts Sir I sent you a letter by Mssr Mayhew stating the condition of my negroes, the trouble I had had with them and the great necessity there was of my having overseers, but neglected to send their names, ages, & counties. I send them now, and hope you will be kind enough to consider my case and put them in the First Class. Norflit Holloman, age 39 Wilcox Co. W. Jenkins McLean age 40 " " There is no white person on either one of my plantations except— my overseers. I am unable to attend to them my-self and as I wrote you before without overseers I will be broken up completely—and it is impossible for me to get any other reliable men, or men who will come in the First Class. If you will let me keep them, please— send me the exemption as soon as— convenient. Respectfully Mrs. S. B. Mathews. Wilcox County Mrs. S.B. Mathews for overseers
