Hd Qrs 38<sup>th</sup> Tennessee Regt Mch 16<sup>th</sup> 1864.
In Camp near Dalton, Ga.
Sir:
There are at Selma & Tuscaloosa, Ala. twenty five
or thirty young men, under conscript age, in the Ala. State service
who wish to enlist for the war in Company "G" of this Regt.
Several of the same class wish to enlist in Company "K" .-
Companies "G" & "K" are Alabama Companies, and have been con-
nected with this Regiment since September, 1861. I am glad to
be able to say that there are no better companies in the Regt.
than these. - I should liek to get your consent to the trans-
fer of the young men, above spoken of, from the State service to
the Regt. - I have the honor, Governor, to be
