Governor
The undersigned would respectfully state to your excellency that at the last term of the Circuit Court of Pickens County [[Love, Elvin E. |Elvin E Love]] was [put?] when his trial for the [[Murder|murder]] of [ware?] and was found guilty of [[Manslaughter|manslaughter]] in the first degree and the jury issued a fine of five hundred dollars and six months imprisonment. They would further state that the [?] [?] the trial disclosed many mitigating facts and circumstances [rectifying?] the [instititution?] of executive clemency. [?] which are the following - he was and has always been a peacible man of good character [s?] and industri-ous. That on the [cl?] to explain a misunderstanding and [actual?] in good faith and with [neat?] forbearance until his [feelings? ] [were?] [much?] [?] [?] - That the killing was done with a [commercial?] [kitchen?] knife and after he had been stuck in a [sewer?] below with a heavy hickory stick, that the knife was not shown until the blow was incured that his [c?] on the occasion [exhibiting?]no feeling mmalice or [grudge?] but on the contrary [?] [unjust?] at which had taken place.

The undersigned would further state that he and his immediate conditinos are [?] [?] [?] industrious and in every way respectful. And he has an [?] mother [?] [?] when his [?] and [?] [?] support - and that he is wholly unable to pay the fine and [?] [?] [aquit?] him.
The undersigned therefore respectfully [?] ask the [interposition?] of executive clemency in his [?] and [?] your Excellency that in this [o?] the cause of justice will not suffer by the [reduction] of the fine and imprisonment by your Excellen-cy.

At the Fall term of the circuirt court 1859 of Pickens County Elvin E. Love was convicted of manslaughter and fined five hundred dollars and sentenced to six months improsonment. The facts stated by the [?] peti-tioners one of whom has the [?] -ally shown mitigating circumstances + [?] [jury?] shown that the character of the defendant [was?] very good to the time of committing the offense and a peacable [man?] they [?] [?] [?] [?] for his [defense?] - [? [?] [?] to [[Remitted|remit]] the balance of his imprisonment + two hundred dollars of the fine - [?] acknowledge of the balance of the [?] + costs
