To his excelency the governor of the State of Alabama [[Mattery, Murphy|Murphy Mattery]], your petitioner Begs here to represent unto your honor that some Time since the grand jury, [empounded?] for the county of [[Jackson County (Ala.)|Jackson]] in the State aforesaid found a [Truce?] [both?] against one [[Whitecotton, Hiram|Hiram Whitecotton]] for shooting on The publick high way whom, whom [which?] process was by The proper offices [issued?] against the said Hiram Whitecotton and the arested [wherefor?]. your peititoner became [bade?] for the appearance of the said Whitecoton <s>to</s> at the next Term of the Circuit Court. before the sitting of the Term of the Court to which the said Hiram Whitecotton should have appeared. he became involved in a personal dificulty with one [[Efrim, William|William Efrim]] who he severely stabed was arested. Therefore and Escaped from the sherriff And fled to the State of [[Arkansas|Arkansas]] where he now resides. Your petitioner would further represent unto your Honor that at September Time.
1859 of the Jackson Circuit Court a forfeiture was by said Court taken against your petitioner for owe hundred dollars and costs the amount of the Bale bond be singed for the said Hiram Whitecattor whom is in the hands of teh sheriff and your petitioner will be compelled to pay if he is not released from so doing by your Excelency - your peititioner, therefore Begs [bege?] To represent unto your Excelency that he is a [loose?] man with a [lechliss?] [fomny?] [ouphending?] on his [Tabam?] for or support [Le?] [fmtter?] [Nates?] that if he is compelled to pay said judgement it will [effcatuay?] [hack?] him [?] and leave his fammily To suffer [page break] your petitioner states that the said offender is [out?] of the County where he will not hereafter locate the [lanes?]of this State.
