Dear Sir,

Yours of the 11<sup>th</sup> [inst?] in reply to you mine of the 27<sup>th</sup> Augst. was duly read. I regret to trouble you with a second letter, but fear you are mistaken in the particular case that caused the subject of this correspondence. - Neither our clk. or shff. has rec<sup>d</sup> any orders from the Secy. o State in relation to the fines of [[Malone, Reuben J.|Reuben J Malone]]. In the case of [[Hulgin, Unknown|Mr. Hulgin]], to which you allude, as having written to [[Higgins, Unknown|Mr. Higgins]], the letter was duly rec.<sup>d</sup> - Will you please order the necessary papers issued by the Secy. of State in the case of R. J. Malone.

I am note a retailer of [?] liquor. I only [keep?] a fine article of whiskey by for the Hotel as [Judge?] porter Stated in his letter I would insist you remit the sum's in full & I think you would do so if you were a [acquianted?] fully with the [?]
