To his excellency [[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|Andrew B. Moore]] governor of the [[Alabama|State of Alabama]] Whereas one [[Murphree, Elijah R.|Elijah R Murphree]] a convict in the penitentiary of the State of Alabama having a [[WIFE|wife]] of five helpless [[children|children]] & his family being in very [[impoverishedpeople|Indigent circumstances]] & also that said family has to depend solely upon the <s>labour<s> labor of said Murrphree for support & bele<s>a<s>^e^ving that said Murphree has been punished suficentley for the charge pledged as he was confined in [[Jails|jail]] fo near two Yeats before his confinement in the penitentiary & knowing the helpless situation of his wife & children
We your undersigned potitioners pray your eccellency to release the said Elijah R Murphree from said confinement so he may return home to help make a suport for his family and we your humble potitioners will ever Pray &c this the day of Febuary <s>184<s> 1859
