Talladega County

Know all men by
these presents, that we
Jos H Johnson. R. H. Isbells Mr Chapman, and
Taul Bradford, the officers of the Volunteer
company known by the name & style of the
"Alabama Rifles" as principals & we Mr Charles
Pelham and Walker Curry as securities
are held & firmly bound unto Reuben T
Thom or his Successors in office.
Quarter Master General of the state: in
the sum of Three thousand dollars for
the payment of which, will & truly to be
made, we bind ourselves, our executors
& administrators, jointly and severally, firmly
by these presents.

The condition of the above obligation is
such that whereas the above named
Company has been organized under an
"act to provide for an efficient
Military organization of the State of
Alabama" and has receiving from the
State under the provisions of said act
the following Arms & accoutrements
to wit- Sixty Rifle Muskets "and
Accoutrements" Now if the said
Jos H Johnson, R H Isbell Wm. S Chapman
& Taul Bradford, principals & Charles
Pelham & Walker Curry shall return to
the Quarter Master General of the State
the said Arms & Accoutrements in good
order & condition, should said Company
disband or a Majority of it fail to
answer a call to actual service

to remain in full force & virtue
