[[Montgomery (Ala.)|Montgomery]], Al<sup>a<sup>. 5<sup>th<sup> July 1859
[[Thomason, Carter |Carter Thomason]] was at the Fall Term 1859, of [[St Clair County (Ala.|St. Clair County]] Court convicted of an [[Assault and battery|assault and battery]], & fined four hundred dollars, not being able to pay said fine, was [[Imprisoned|imprisoned]] by the court for six months, I am appealed by the [[Jury|jury]] who tried him, & also by a number of the good citizens of said county to remit the the fine, & discharge him from prison.- on the grounds that he is a minor, & had some provocation for his act- that he had no [wedey?] of paying the fine- has been in prison the greater portion of the time [fined?] by the law has rep-hinted his act and his father is [Lame|lame]] & [[Blind|blind]], & needs his sons services constantly- but is unable to spare the money to pay the fine- for these preasons all the all but fifty dollars is remitted where the [poginant?] of [unclear]
