Yours in reply to my letter of 2 <sup> nd<sup> Nov Cerni[?] to hand some Time Siner but owning to the fact that the [[Jury|jury]] that tried Young [[Carter Thomason|Thomason]] lived in different parts of the County the matter has been delayed.

I hope however that the enclosed petition & Certificate will be sifficient even that I will heat from you in a short time as the young man has well high spent the Winter in the County [[Jails|jail]] - and as I think for grith[?] a small offense. hoping to hear from you soon I suboevlio[?] myself your Friend

[[Thomas Montgomery|Thomas Montgomery]], [[Davis, Geurral|Geurral Davis]], [[Hardan, James H.|James H Hardan]] [[Elliott,Thomas|Thomas Elliott]], [[Truss,Thomas W.|Thomas W Truss]] [[Brayer, John Y. M.|John Y M Brayer]], [[Woodall, Reuben|Reuben Woodall]] [[Sims, John M.|John M Sims]], [[Strange, Benjamin|Benjamin Strange]], [[Nichols,William| William Niekals [Nichols]]], [[Backer, John G.|John G Backer]] & [[Gaines, Louis|Louis Gaines]] were Petit [[JuryJury]] as the fall tern 1858 of the Circuit Court of St Clair County and I suppose were on that Jury that tried the Case of the State against Carter Thomason for [Assault and battery|assault]] to [[Murder| Murder]]. I know that several were on that jury but I have no record showing farther that that they were Petit Juror regularly drawn and in attendance
