Sir

Yours of the 21st inst just recd. for which you will accept my thanks.

I sent a few days since by Col C Harrison 200 bonds of $1000 each, 1/2 of them to be deposited in yr Bank & other half in Bk Mobile, to be held by the Banks until taken up by other bonds payable at the Bk of Mobile and interest payable semi-annually, which will be ready in a few days. I had hoped that each of the Banks would have been able to take $150.000 of these state bonds, but can not insist upon their doing more then they have promised to do, under the Circumstances which surround them.

I fully appretiate the patriotic motives which have actuated the President & Directors of the Banks & tender them my thanks for what they have done for the state in her emergencies.

I desire the $50.000 to be placed to the Credit of D B Graham Treasurer of the State of Ala. There will probably be no necessity for transferring any portion of the amount to the treasury at Montgy, as it is likely that the whole Amount will have to be paid out in Mobile
