Description

Letter written by A.B. Moore indebting the state of Alabama to the Central Bank of Alabama for a loan amount of $105,882.30. The amount has an interest rate of 8% per year and is set to be paid by January 24, 1862. A.B. Moore signs this letter as the Governor of Alabama and the letter is countersigned by the Comptroller, W.J. Green on January 24, 1861.

The State of Alabama

Know all men by these Presents
That the State of Alabama hereby
acknowledges itself to owe and be in-
debted to the Central Bank of Alabama
in the sum of One hundred and
Five Thousand Eight hundred and
Eighty two 30/100 Dollars, being the amount
borrowed by me as the Governor of said
State from said Central Bank on the
24th day of January, A. D. 1861 under
the provisions of an Ordinance of
the Convention of said State, entitled
"an Ordinance for the Purchase of Pro
visions," adopted 14th January, 1861, which
said sum of One hundred and Five
Thousand Eight hundred and Eighty
two 30/100 Dolars, with the Interest thereon,
at the rate of Eight per centum per an
num, is due and payable to said Bank
or its order, at the Office of the Treasurer
of said State, on the 24th day of Janu
-ary, in the year 1862

to be countersigned by the
