Description
Letter from H. M. Larey to Governor Andrew B. Moore reporting staff appointments for the 58th Regiment of the Alabama Militia. Larey informs the Governor of several appointments he made to fill positions within his regimental staff, made public through a local newspaper. He notes which officers are considered commissioned according to the state’s military code.

Sir;
I hereby make return to your Honor of an appointment made by me as Col of 58th Regt. Alabama Militia, on 15th day of November 1860, through the columns of the Chronicle, a paper published in Lowndes County, to fill my staff as said commandant of said Regiment.

With title of Capt.

According to the Military Code sec 13th the first four viz; the Adjutant, QuarterMaster, Paymaster and Surgeon are Commissioned officers.
