To His Excellency,
[[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|A. B. Moore]], Governor of the[[Alabama|State]]:
The undersigned, citizens of said County, would most respectfully represent to your Excellency, that at the Spring term of the [[Circuit courts|Circuit Court]] for said County, an indictment was prefind against [[McCampbell, Solomon|Solomon McCampbell]], for retailing to a [[Student|Student]]. Mr McCamp-bell plead guilty to the charge, & was fined by the Court the sum of Fifty Dollars. We would pray your Excellency to remit said fine. Mr. McCapbell, at the time was a licensed retailer, and we are satis-fied that he was ignorant of the fact that the young man to whom he sold the liquor, was a student, at the time it was sold. Mr McCampbell bore the character of an honest upright and law abiding citizen, and we believe he violated the law in this instance without any intention of doing so, we hope therefore your Excellency will

Remit said fine. Mr McCampbell has since died, and leaves connections who will be the sufferers, if said fine has to b paid. We hope your Excellency, will remit all, or a larger portion of said fine, and we assure you it will be very acciptable to the people of this County.
