Sir

I enclose a muster
and description roll. of Recruits enlisted during
month of March, This roll with my
recruiting papers would have been forward
ed sooner had not sickness prevented
a close attention to my duties, and obedience
to your Orders my recruiting office has
been closed since the 3rd of April and
all recruits sent to Mt Vernon. With
the exception of my recruiting Sergeant
he has been retained to take charge of
the office Clothing &c still in my possess
ion, the office being sealed until 1st
of Nov. and admiralty adapted for the
purpose can I suppose be leased
to any Officer of the Confederated
Army who may be sent here on duty
Since closing my office I have had many
applications from good men to enlist
and would strongly recommend the reopening
of our [sendercons?] should the department
desire more soldiers, I forward by to
days mail to the Auditor my [?]
ing [acts?] for march. Confinement from
severe sickness has prevented my doing
so earlier
