To his Excellency [[Moore, Andrew B. (Andrew Barry), 1807-1873|Andrew B. More]] governer of the [[Alabama|State of Alabama]] Where as one [[Murphree, Elijah R.|Elijah R Murphree]] a convict in the Penitentiary of the State of Alabama having a [[WIFE|wife]] of five helpless [[children|children] & his family being in very [[impoverishedpeople|Indigent circumstances]] also that said family murphree for a support and <s>being<s> believing that said murphree has been punished [gap]
Sufficiently for the charge alleged as he has confined in [[Jails|jail]] for year Two years and knowing the helpless situation of his wife and children
We your undersigned Potitioners pray your excellency to release the said Elijah R. Murphree from said confinement so he may return to help make a support for his family and we humble pettianers will ever pray of this the 10 day of February 1859
