Williams story 1

A letter from a wealthy slave owner who was writing to the governor trying to get out of impressment. He claims that one of his workers died because of impressement and now none of the others want to go. Atkins fears that they will run away before they could be impressed and begs the governor to allow him to send money instead. The governor passes the issue off to the Confederate government saying it was a federal issue and not a state one so he needed to talk to them instead.
