Dr. Tanja L. Jones, Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Jones is Associate Professor in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of Alabama. Dr. Jones's research focuses on the fifteenth-century courts of Italy, with a specific interest in objects demonstrating intersections between the courts of Europe and Byzantium, personal commemoration in the Early Modern period, and the contributions of women artists in the courts. Her edited volume, Women Artists in the Courts of Europe, 1450-1700 (Amsterdam University Press, 2021), features contributions from Christina Strunck, Jennifer Courts, Cecilia Gamberini, Maria Maurer, Adelina Modesti, and Catherine Hall-van den Elsen.

Dr. Doris Sung, Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Sung is Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Alabama. Dr.  Sung's research focuses on Early Modern, Modern, and Contemporary art of East Asia, cultural interactions between Asia and Europe, and gender and visual culture. She was previously involved in the international digital humanities project "A New Approach to the Popular Press and China: Gender and Cultural Production, 1904-1937", a collaboration between York University (Canada), University of Heidelberg (Germany), and Academia Sinica (Taiwan).

Becky Teague, Senior Research Assistant (2019-Present)

Becky Teague received her M.A. in Art History from the University of Alabama in 2019 and and the MLIS degree at UA in 2022. She begins the Ph.D. program in Art History at the University of California, Riverside in August, 2023.  As a research assistant on the Global Makers site, Becky oversees data input and collections management and works closely with the Alabama Digital Humanities Center (ADHC). 

Sara Maurice Whitver, Project Coordinator (2022-Present)

Sara Whitver is an Associate Professor and Digital Humanities Librarian at the University of Alabama. She leads the Alabama Digital Humanities Center (ADHC) at the University Libraries. Prof. Whitver is the website project manager and Digital Humanities liaison for Global Makers.

Dr. Anne Ladyem McDivitt, Website Project Manager (2019-22)

Dr. McDivitt is the Digital Humanities Librarian and an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama. She leads the Digital Humanities Center at the University Libraries. In her role, she assists faculty and graduate students in creating digital projects at the University, as well as facilitating digital pedagogy through the use of tools and workshops. Dr. McDivitt is the website project manager and Digital Humanities liaison for Global Makers. Previously, she was a Digital History Fellow at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media.

Patrick Motley, Digital Humanities IT Specialist (2020-21)

As the Digital Humanities Technical Specialist of the Alabama Digital Humanities Department, Patrick worked on the Project from 2020-2021.  

Pawan Subedi, Research Assistant (2021-22)

Pawan Subedi is a Ph.D. student under Dr. Xiaoyan Hong in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alabama, USA. He received his BE in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Tribhuvan University in 2014. His current research interest includes information-centric networking, distributed systems, and vehicular networks. He worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Graduate School at the University of Alabama, where he maintained 20+ web projects used by 3,000+ staff and faculty and 5,000+ students. As a Research Assistant in the Global Makers (2021-22), he was  involved in data visualization.
