Dec 26: Trump still hasn’t signed<\/a> the relief bill. He has called for the stimulus check to raise to $2000 from $600. The House agrees and drafts a new bill with that amount. It goes to the Senate. Trump tweets<\/a> “<\/span>2020 Presidential Election Voter Fraud, the biggest SCAM in our nation\u2019s history” and “See everyone in D.C. on January 6th.”<\/p>\n

Dec 27: Trump signs<\/a> the bill. U.S. officials say they are looking<\/a> closely at a new strain of the virus. Trump announces<\/a> he will hold a rally in the buildup to the upcoming Georgia Senate election and tweets<\/a> again “See you in Washington, DC, on January 6th.”  <\/p>\n

Dec 28: Republicans sue<\/a> Mike Pence in an effort to overturn the election. Mitch McConnell refuses<\/a> to sign on to the coronavirus relief bill, with the $2000 check, which Trump supported.<\/p>\n

Dec 29: A recently discovered coronavirus variant found a week prior in the United Kingdom is detected<\/a> in a Colorado man in his 20s with no travel history. Two officers involved<\/a> in Breonna Taylor’s shooting are fired.<\/p>\n

Dec 30: McConnell again refuses to allow the Senate to pass the coronavirus relief bill, saying the increased stimulus check would be “socialism for rich people,” yet relief checks would only go to families who make below $100k per year. <\/p>\n

Dec 31:  As the year closes<\/a>, the CDC says about 2.8 million people so far have received an initial vaccination. This falls far below the goal of 20 million that federal officials had hoped to deliver by the end of the year.
