British cuisine, a delicacy often times found landlocked within the United Kingdom, over time has incorporated the cultural influence of those who have settled on the island throughout the centuries. Known for preparing simple dishes, British food focuses on using locally found ingredients that highlight the flavor rather than mask it. Taking from India’s food traditions, British dishes follows the use of robust herbs and spices. Within the general British cuisine, there are multiple sub-cuisines: Anglo-Indian, English, Northern Irish, Scottish, and Welsh cuisine — all of which have brought and influenced major components of British food, whether through ingredients, cooking practices, or developing their own local/regional dishes (such as: Yorkshire pudding, black pudding, cumberland sausage, and Welsh cakes). British cuisine, as a whole, is most famously known internationally for its full breakfast, fish and chips, and Christmas dinner.
