Treating the Sick

In this item of treating the sick is from a novel that was created by Mary Baker Eddy around 1893-1897. The name of this novel is called “Christ and Christmas; and, poem”. The following item was created to show the connection of religion, health and science through this novel. This item is showing how People are using new thought to help and heal the sick. They believe having good thoughts and positive thoughts will help the people around them who need it.  In the view of Eddy this is how religion and health would work together if someone were to become ill. Followed by this image there are poems that revolve around religion and how Positive thoughts is an effective way to heal the sick. “ The way, The truth, The life -His word- are here, and now Christ’s silent healing, heaven heard, crowns the pale brow” (Eddy pg. 45)1 , is one example of the poems in her book.  This item is communicating different healing techniques that can be learned. Also it is communicating how religion and science work well together under the right circumstances. A lot of things can be learned from this item. First it can open eyes to a lot of people showing that the religious part of new thought is a form of science and healing. Also this type of practice can be learned by different cultures where they can establish new practices. When it comes to things that can be learned about the group that created this item there are some things that can be learned. For example the different types of thinking styles from each individual can be learned and sometimes taught to others. With learning their thought process people can understand more of what is going on in the concept and be more accepting than not knowing what the background is about. During this time of the 19th century we can learn how this process of having religion as a form of healing and science being developed and grown over the years.

Now when you go to page 39 you see an image of what looks like an angel giving health to the person in bed. In the background you can see another person standing and thinking for the health of the person in the bed. This shows and brings more to see about what Eddy is trying to explain about how health, science and religion work together.
