Oct 25: Mark Meadows, White House Chief of Staff, says that the White House is “not going to control the pandemic. … We are gonna control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigation areas.” Meadows explains that the administration will not control the pandemic “because it is a contagious virus, just like the flu.” VP Pence continues campaigning despite positive cases in his staff.
Oct 26: The Republican-controlled Senate votes to advance Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination for the Supreme Court. President Trump tweets, “The Fake News Media is riding COVID, COVID, COVID, all the way to the Election. Losers!” The U.S. Election Project reports that nearly 60 million Americans have early voted. The State Department says that it has halted employee diversity and inclusion training programs.
