Spectrum: 2007-Present

The current name of the University of Alabama’s queer student organization is Spectrum, chosen specifically in 2007 to signal welcome to the entire range or “spectrum” of queer students and straight allies. Its leaders and members debated policies as did earlier generations. But in this case students kept the name, suggesting that it came the closest to being truly representative of the constituents, purpose, and identity of the University of Alabama's queer student community.
